her statement

her statement

If you read her statement...

If you read her statement from 2002 it is very clear that she understood that she was being accused.

If you read her statement from 2002 it is very clear that she understood what she was being accused of.

SHE WAS BEING ACCUSED OF SLANDERING AND MALIGNING ME!

If you read her statement from 2002 it is very clear that she was offering a defence to those allegations.

HER DEFENCE WAS THAT SHE HAD LEFT SARNIA.
HER DEFENCE WAS THAT SHE HAD NO CONTACT WITH ANYONE IN SARNIA SINCE LEAVING.
HER DEFENCE WAS THAT THE ONLY PEOPLE SHE HAD CONTACT WITH WERE THE PEOPLE AT THE CONSTRUCTION OFFICE.
HER DEFENCE WAS THAT THE CONVERSATIONS WITH THE PEOPLE AT THE CONSTRUCTION OFFICE WERE NEVER ABOUT THE "BILL CASE". (QUOTATION MARKS ARE HERS, NOT MINE.)

SHE OFFERED THAT IF ANYTHING WAS HAPPENING TO ME IT BEGAN AFTER I KNOCKED ON HER DOOR.

After making it very clear that she understood that she was being accused.

After making it very clear that she understood what she was being accused of. i.e. Slandering me as a stalker.

After making her defence to the allegations. i.e. Conversations with few people in Sarnia but conversations never about the "Bill Case".

After inadvertently outing herself by offering "her opinion" that what was happening to me began after I knocked on her door.

She offered "her opinion" as to who she thought was responsible for the slander. And who was she suggesting was responsible? The janitors!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't make a fool of myself because I was correct.

She understood that she was being accused and she understood what she was being accused of BECAUSE SHE WAS ACTUALLY DOING IT!

She said that she had no contact with anyone in Sarnia since leaving Sarnia except the people at the construction office. She said that the conversations with the people at the construction office were never about the "Bill Case". She put "Bill Case" in quoation marks because slandering me was exactly what she and the people at the construction office were doing.

Remember that I spoke to her on only two occasions. Once in November 1999 and once again in July 2000. It was after I spoke to her the second time that she called the police. Constable Steve Lennon of the Sarnia Police Service responded to the complaint. Constable Lennon noted that there were no threats, no assaults, and that I had no history. I'm not going to speculate on what he was thinking of the situation, but I do know from the incident report that he told her that he would go speak to me the following week. One can presume from this that he felt no sense of urgency

The next day it was someone known only as "her manager" who escalated the complaint to Inspector Phil Nelson of the Sarnia Police Service. Inspector Nelson delegated the investigation to Constable Frank McCormick of the Criminal Investigation Division. Constable McCormick reviewed the incident report of Constable Lennon. Constable McCormick then contacted Ms. Plante to verify the details of Lennon's report and to gather any additional information. Constable McCormick then attended my home and spoke to me about Ms. Plante's complaint.

What's important to note here is that both Constable Lennon and Constable McCormick arrived at the same conclusions: 1) No crime had been committed; 2) There was no cause for concern; and 3) No future problems were anticipated.

It's also very important to note that it was "her manager" who escalated the situation. It's important to note that it was the manager that escalated the situation because presumably "her manager" would have been one of the people at the construction office with whom she continued having conversations that she claims were never about the "Bill Case".

She offered that what was happening to me began after I knocked on her door. By doing so she essentially implicated herself in what I was alleging by acknowleding that it was happening and when it began.

She then made a last ditched attempt to deflect blame by contriving the ill-conceived narrative that Sarnia is a very small town where ostensibly everybody knows everybody. She offered that since the town was so small and that janitors are consummate gossips, it was quite likely in her opinion that it was them that was responsible for the slander.

ANALYSIS:

Her victim statement contained several parapraxes. Parapraxes, or Freudian Slips, are thoughts that one attempts to conceal but are inadvertently manifest in their conscious actions or speech. In her attempt to deny what she and her manager had been doing she unwittingly implicated herself in a series of thought missteps.

Saying that it began after I knocked on her door was a parapraxis. She was attempting to deny responsibility but inadvertently implicated herself by saying when it was that what she stood accused began. i.e. Only the person doing it would know when it began.

Enclosing the words "Bill Case" in quotation marks was another parapraxis. Particularly when done in the same sentence where she says she only maintained contact with the person(s) unsatisfied with the police response. i.e. After she left Sarnia she continued to speak with the person who escalated to Inspector Nelson and demanded immediate action.

Another parapraxis is manifest in the 'love letters' she told RCMP she was receiving morning and evening as she was either coming to work or leaving work. She told RCMP that she still had these love letters in her possession. When she was telling the RCMP of the 'love letters' she was receiving she had temporarily forgotten that there had actually been no love letters. To explain away this parapraxis she later said that she had thrown out these love letters that she had temporarily forgotten never actually existed when speaking to Constable Wiebe.

And her small town hypothesis whereby all of the work, and presumably all of the people, are interlinked, with the janitors being the glue that binds, although not a parapraxis, is patently absurd. How anyone could believe, much less an officer of the RCMP, a constable in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sarnia Police Service, and a Crown Prosecutor, that it was a bunch of "janitors" that were responsible for what she stood accused is beyond me.

Anyway, I digress.
